The requirement to submit identifiers comes into effect on September 4
Starting September 4, importers of mobile phones into Ukraine must include the IMEI of each device in their customs declaration. This measure is intended to de-shadow the electronics market and counter illegal imports. This was reported by Pressluzhba Derzhavnoi Mytnoi Sluzhby Ukrainy, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
According to the established regulations, during the customs clearance of goods classified under codes 8517 13 00 00 and 8517 14 00 00 according to the UKT FEA, it is necessary to indicate “See electronic list” in field 31 of the declaration. The mobile equipment identifiers themselves must be recorded in field 44 under code “9113”.
The implementation of this mechanism has been supported by industry associations and businesses involved in the supply of communication devices. The goal of these changes is to strengthen control over legal imports and increase transparency in the electronics market.
The data collected by customs authorities during the clearance process will serve as a basis for further tracking of device circulation. Law enforcement and regulatory agencies will be able to utilize this information to combat the illegal import of electronics, particularly during retail inspections of mobile phone sales.
