The government appointed an official with Strategic Industries Ministry background
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed Anna Hvozdyar as Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine. In this role, she will be responsible for the development of Ukraine's defence-industrial complex. The main priorities include prompt supply of domestic weapons to the front line and scaling up production. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The government’s decision to reinforce the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine aims to accelerate deliveries of weapons and military equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The newly appointed deputy minister will head the department overseeing domestic defence manufacturing.
Previously, Anna Hvozdyar served as Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, as well as Deputy and Advisor to the Minister of Defence of Ukraine. She brings extensive practical experience in coordinating with Ukrainian defence industry enterprises.
Frontline supplies and defence industry growth
“Our goal is a strong Ukrainian defence industry that provides the front line with what is needed now and creates a long-term advantage for Ukraine,” emphasized Minister of Defence of Ukraine Yevhenii Khmara.
Key tasks behind the appointment include supplying Ukrainian soldiers with sufficient domestic weaponry to counter Russian battlefield threats. To achieve this, the country’s defence manufacturers plan to expand output and secure more scaling opportunities.
Defence exports and clear industry rules
A specific focus for the new deputy minister will be exporting Ukrainian defence solutions whose output exceeds current military requirements. Delivering such products abroad is expected to help build partnerships with allies and attract additional funding into Ukrainian defence manufacturing.
To reach these targets, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine plans to establish predictable, transparent rules for manufacturers, maintain direct dialogue with industry leaders, and foster conditions for scaling up production.
