Minister of Defence of Ukraine Yevhenii Khmara held a phone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The sides discussed preparations for the next meeting in the Ramstein format and weapons supply issues. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Сергій Козачук) citing the Telegram channel of Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
In preparation for the upcoming Ramstein format meeting, Minister of Defence Yevhenii Khmara discussed current needs of the Ukrainian front with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The parties paid special attention to the issue of accelerating the provision of air defence systems, as well as supplying relevant ammunition to repel Russian air attacks.
Another important block of the discussion was attracting additional funding to provide for the Defence Forces. Minister Khmara emphasized that it is critical for Ukraine to maintain a high level of consolidation among partners for the operational adoption of decisions that directly affect the security situation and the preservation of the lives of military personnel and civilians.
During the conversation, the head of the Ministry of Defence separately noted the effectiveness of special mechanisms of the Alliance, in particular the PURL program. This initiative, according to the minister, allows maintaining stable supply channels of critical weaponry for the Ukrainian army.
Interaction with partners’ defence agencies
In addition to the dialogue with the Alliance leadership, Yevhenii Khmara recently held negotiations with German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius. The main topic of the meeting was the continuation of defence support and countering modern threats, in particular ballistic missiles and jet drones.
During the discussions with his German counterpart, the issue of the importance of high-quality management within the troops was raised. As the Ukrainian minister noted, a strategic vision of security challenges must be integrated at all levels of the army structure so that it reaches each combat unit directly, rather than being limited only to the level of senior military and political leadership.
