US attributes lack of ballistic missile warnings for Kyiv to software glitch

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed claims of halting intelligence data exchange

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the lack of warnings for Ukraine regarding Russian ballistic missiles was caused by technical issues in the alert system. Washington emphasizes that intelligence cooperation continues and urges focus on ending the conflict. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Олена Чупровська) citing Alex Raufoglu, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

A software glitch recently occurred in the early warning system used to inform Ukraine about Russian ballistic missile threats. According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the United States European Command (EUCOM) is currently analyzing the incident to determine the causes of the technical failure.

Intelligence systems operational details

The official specifically addressed reports regarding an alleged halt in the exchange of intelligence data between the two nations. Marco Rubio refuted these assumptions, confirming that the information exchange continues in full capacity.

The US Secretary of State expressed surprise at the public statements made by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, regarding alleged restrictions on intelligence sharing. Marco Rubio emphasized the importance of focusing efforts on ending the war rather than discussing such matters in the media.

Context of intelligence sharing

According to reports from American media, the possibility of limiting intelligence data exchange due to Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries had been previously considered. According to The Washington Post, US intelligence had issued relevant warnings through the Ukrainian embassy.

The security situation in Kyiv remains tense: on October 19, the Ukrainian capital was hit by another ballistic missile strike, resulting in one fatality. Russian shelling caused temporary disruptions to infrastructure, including the metro system.
