Applicants are increasingly choosing engineering and agricultural professions
In 2026, the admission campaign for Ukrainian higher education institutions demonstrated record figures in terms of the number of applications submitted. A total of 226,932 students were enrolled in bachelor's programs, exceeding last year's result by 31,770 people. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
An analysis of the admission period results indicates a stable interest from applicants in pursuing higher education in Ukraine. Current data suggests that the current level of applications for bachelor’s programs and medical master’s degrees is the highest since the start of the full-scale war.
Focusing on economic recovery
In addition to the general increase in the number of students, experts point to a shift in priorities regarding the choice of specialties. Applicants have increasingly chosen fields that are of strategic importance for post-war reconstruction and the stabilization of the state’s economic system.
Among the fields experiencing significant demand are architecture and construction, as well as electrical engineering. There has been a noticeable increase in interest in professions related to the automation of production processes, the agricultural sector, and teaching.
