The Netherlands will allocate €2 million for the search and return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia

The Netherlands announced increased support for Ukraine in the return of children who were illegally deported by Russia.

This was  reported on the official websiteof the Dutch government, this year the country additionally allocated 2 million euros for initiatives for the identification and repatriation of minors. In particular, these funds will be directed to the purchase of DNA kits, informs the portal PromPolitInform.

Ensuring DNA examinations should become a key tool for legal confirmation of family ties and accelerate the process of returning young Ukrainians home, the Dutch government believes.

As of February 16, 2026, Ukraine managed to return 2,000 children who were deported to the Russian Federation or were in the temporarily occupied territories (TOT), Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets said.

More than 1.6 million remain in the temporarily occupied territories.
