Anatoliy Borychevskyi managed the evacuation of Kurakhove TPP equipment from the front line
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the National Legend of Ukraine distinction to Anatoliy Borychevskyi, Director of DTEK Prydniprovska TPP. The award was presented for his contribution to supporting and protecting the state's energy system. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Олександр Мороз) citing DTEK, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The solemn ceremony, attended by the head of state and First Lady Olena Zelenska, served as a platform to honor representatives from various sectors. In addition to energy workers, state awards were presented to military personnel, medical professionals, artists, athletes, and media representatives who have made a significant contribution to the country’s resilience.
Anatoliy Borychevskyi, who has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, attributed his award to the collective effort of his entire team. According to him, the recognition symbolizes the hard work of every specialist who keeps the power system functioning and restores critical equipment despite constant threats.
He emphasized that every employee who continues to fulfill their professional duties during wartime deserves recognition as a national legend. For the energy expert, remaining at his post during times of danger was a matter of principle.
Operations Near the Front Line
Leadership of the Kurakhove TPP, which was situated in close proximity to the front line, played a pivotal role in Anatoliy Borychevskyi’s professional career. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the facility was a constant target for Russian attacks, leading to structural damage and forced shutdowns of power generation.
Despite the complex security situation, the director led the organized evacuation of the station’s critical equipment. The operation was carried out in the absence of railway connections and under the threat of continuous shelling, which complicated the logistics of dismantling and transporting the heavy components.
Specialists dismantled tens of tons of equipment, which was subsequently moved by road for further use at other energy facilities across the country. These actions helped to partially preserve the capacity needed to restore power generation in other regions.
