Germany will provide Ukraine with an additional €200 million for reconnaissance drones and strengthening civil protection.
This was announced during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada by the President of the Bundestag Julia Klöckner, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
As it is known from the broadcast of the session of the Parliament, according to Klöckner, the decision on further support for Ukraine, in particular possible security guarantees, is taken by the Bundestag, and it is the Parliament that is responsible for such steps.
The President of the Bundestag stressed that Ukraine today is fighting not only for its own borders, but also for the principles on which modern Europe is based.
“Ukraine is fighting for the idea of human dignity and universal human rights. For the Russian president, only power is important. These days, Germany is providing an additional €200 million to strengthen protection against Russian terror by bombing. We are talking about increasing funds for reconnaissance drones and civil protection, so that there is an opportunity to better protect people and secure vital infrastructure,” the president said.
Julia Klöckner first arrived in Kyiv after being elected President of the Bundestag. According to the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, she came to the capital at his invitation. Stefanchuk noted that this visit is a clear political signal of solidarity with Ukraine and support at the highest parliamentary level.
Earlier, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal after a meeting with Klöckner said that Germany had prepared equipment from its decommissioned power plants and would soon send it to Ukraine to maintain the energy infrastructure damaged by Russian strikes.
