Two Su-24 bombers were escorted into international airspace during the Alliance mission.
Spanish fighters participating in the NATO Eastern Guard mission took off from the Siauliai air base in Lithuania and intercepted two Russian Su-24 aircraft, the NATO Air Command reports, the PromPolitInform portal informs.
Russian bombers flew in international airspace near the borders of the Alliance countries.
After the interception, NATO aircraft escorted the Russian sides during a flight near allied airspace.
Recall that at the end of February, five Russian aircraft were found in the Alaska air defense identification zone. And in early March, the North American Aerospace Defense Command announced the discovery of two Russian anti-submarine aircraft Tu-142 near the air defense zones of Alaska and Canada.
Earlier, the British Navy intercepted a Russian ship near strategic underwater cables. The ship stopped over the zone of main telecommunication cables providing communication between Europe and North America, which caused an immediate reaction from the British defense departments due to the threat of sabotage.
