IRGC announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic and warned that ships attempting to violate the ban would be subjected to a harsh response.

This is stated in the statement of the public relations department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), TRT Haber reports, informs the portal  PromPolitInform.

“Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic and warned that ships trying to violate the ban will be subjected to a harsh response,” the channel said.

In a statement, the IRGC noted that the passage of all ships bound for ports associated with the “Israeli-American alliance,” or leaving them, is prohibited regardless of the route.

The statement indicates that in the morning three container ships from different countries tried to pass the strait through the permitted corridors. However, as a result of the intervention and warnings of the naval forces of the Guard Corps, these ships were forced to change course and return.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also said that the US administration’s allegations that “the Strait of Hormuz is open” are not true, stressing that the strait is actually closed.

At the end of the statement, it is emphasized that everyone who tries to use the strait in spite of the ban will receive a “tough answer.”
