The Cabinet of Ministers appointed Vasily Shkurakov Deputy Minister of Defense for Finance and Internal Audit. Its main tasks are the construction of a transparent, managed and data-driven financial system of the Ministry of Defense.
This was announced in Telegram by Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
“We are developing MOU as an effective structure capable of achieving our goals. Today, at a government meeting, Vasyl Shkurakov was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine. Vasily Shkurakov will be responsible for the financial system and internal audit. The focus is on building a transparent, managed and data-driven financial system of the Ministry of Defense,” the note says.
According to Fedorov, the key tasks of the Deputy Minister of Defense for Finance and Internal Audit will be:
- qualitative budget planning and execution, so that resources correspond to the real priorities of the front;
- management of all sources of financing: the state budget, international technical assistance, grants and loans;
- strengthening economic analysis for managerial decision-making;
- strengthening internal control and audit to identify risks and inefficiencies;
- digitalization of financial reporting and control so that decisions are made on the basis of quality data.
As noted, Shkurakov has more than 10 years of experience in managing public finances, worked as Deputy Minister of Finance and First Deputy Minister of Community Development and Infrastructure. During the war, it ensured the financial stability of critical infrastructure.
