Ukraine received 20 Roshel Senator MRAP armored vehicles for humanitarian demining.
Humanitarian demining units received a new batch of 20 Canadian Roshel Senator MRAP armored vehicles. The delivery took place within the framework of cooperation with the Demining Coalition.
It is reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
A big advantage was the availability of cars from the manufacturer, which made it possible to fulfill the contract and deliver the cars in a very short time.
Today, the threat from drones in task zones forces us to act as quickly as possible, because the protection of personnel is the number one issue. Together with the Demining Coalition and the manufacturer, we did the almost impossible: in just three months, we fully implemented the project to supply 20 modern Roshel Senator armored vehicles of the MRAP class. The new equipment will significantly strengthen the safety of our sappers during humanitarian demining, “said Major General Alexander Yakovets, Head of the Administration of the State Special Transport Service.
Armored vehicles of the MRAP class are equipped with mine protection. They will significantly increase the safety of Ukrainian servicemen during the tasks of cleaning the territory from explosive objects.
Roshel Senator MRAP: what kind of armored vehicle
Senator MRAP is an armored off-road vehicle created to protect the crew from explosions on mines and other explosive devices. The armored vehicle was developed by the Canadian company Roshel.
Armored body and glass provide a high level of ballistic protection
The key feature is the V-shaped hull, which diverts shock wave and debris from the cockpit during blasting. It is this design that significantly increases the chances of the crew to survive after the explosion of a mine or improvised explosive device.
Characteristics of Roshel Senator MRAP
The car has a high ground clearance, reinforced suspension, all-wheel drive and a powerful diesel engine, which allows you to work effectively off-road and in difficult combat conditions.
Senator MRAP can adapt to different tasks – from personnel transportation to medical evacuation or command and staff missions.

Among the additional equipment:
armored capsule with 360-degree protection;
circular video surveillance system;
thermal imaging camera with night vision;
remotely controlled spotlights;
reinforced door mechanisms;
winch and additional compartments for equipment.
The armored vehicle is equipped with a system of protection against weapons of mass destruction, which can filter chemical, biological and radioactive substances, generating clean air inside a sealed cabin.
Roshel Senator MRAP withstands shelling with armor-piercing bullets and fragments of artillery ammunition
Senator MRAP has an armored steel body and glass provide a high level of ballistic protection. The explosion-proof case allows you to withstand the explosion of a grenade or mine. Tires have a runflat system with pumping on the go.
One of the best armored vehicles of the MRAP class
Roshel Senator MRAP has been certified according to NATO STANAG 4569 Level 2 and 3 standards. This means that the machine is able to withstand:
shelling with armor-piercing bullets of 7.62 × 39 mm caliber;
undermining the charge up to 8 kg in TNT equivalent;
fragments of 155 mm artillery ammunition.
Ukraine receives Canadian Roshel Senator from 2022. Initially, these were APC models built on the Ford F-550 chassis. The Senator MRAP variant with enhanced protection appeared later – precisely taking into account the experience of using armored vehicles by the Ukrainian military.
We thank the manufacturer and partners from the Demining Coalition for their constant support.
The Coalition of Demining Capabilities includes 23 states. Its task is to attract international support for combat and humanitarian demining in Ukraine.
