More than 13,300 cases of chemical attacks of the Russian Federation at the front – APU data

The use of banned chemical warfare agents has become a regular battlefield tactic for the Russian army. So, since the beginning of a full-scale invasion, more than 13,300 cases of the enemy’s use of chemical weapons have been officially recorded.

This was зannounced  in Chisinau during a meeting of the Group of Seven Initiatives “Global Partnership against the Proliferation of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction” during a meeting of the Information Exchange Group on Technical Assistance to Ukraine, Colonel Valery Weber, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety, informs the portal  PromPolitInform.

The Ukrainian delegation presented to international partners the dynamics of the use of chemicals by Russians. According to the Ministry of Defense, if in 2023 their use was mainly episodic, then since 2024 the intensity of attacks has increased rapidly. And as of the first half of 2026, the overall level of use of chemical munitions by the enemy remains consistently high on the entire contact line.

The intensity of chemical attacks of Russia has increased rapidly

The Ukrainian delegation presented to international partners the dynamics of the use of chemicals by Russians. According to the Ministry of Defense, if in 2023 their use was mainly episodic, then since 2024 the intensity of attacks has increased rapidly. And as of the first half of 2026, the overall level of use of chemical munitions by the enemy remains consistently high on the entire contact line.

The main purpose of the meeting of the Group for the Exchange of Information on Technical Assistance to Ukraine, initiated by the Department of Energy Security and Zero Emissions of the Radiation Safety Agency of Sweden and the Institute for Defense Research of Sweden, was to attract additional resources from donor countries.

Ukraine calls on partners to strengthen support in the field of CBRN security

In view of the constant threats from the Russian Federation, Ukraine called on partners to strengthen support in the field of CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) security. In particular, Colonel Valery Weber presented important project proposals to foreign colleagues:

Strengthening capabilities in the field of radiation control, response to radiation threats.
Safe handling of spent ionizing radiation sources.
Increasing the level of environmental safety at military facilities of the Ministry of Defense.

The G7 countries are currently working on the submitted project proposals for the allocation of additional funding and technical assistance to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
