After the massive attack on Kyiv on May 24, the Russians are not calmed down and are threatening to strike the Ukrainian capital again. On the evening of May 25, it became known about the cynical conversation between Sergei Lavrov and Marco Rubio. Channel 24 reports this with reference to the Russian publication RBC. The PromPolitInform portal reports.
Interestingly, for example, this information is not yet available in the Telegram channel of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
What did Lavrov say to Rubio about the strikes on Kyiv?
The Russian Foreign Minister allegedly called US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“Lavrov conveyed to the American side information about the intention of the Russian military to launch “systematic and consistent strikes” on decision-making centers located in Kyiv and facilities used for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,”
– the publication quotes the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Russians, their strikes should be “a response to the terrorist attacks of the Kyiv regime against the civilian population and civilian facilities on Russian territory.”
Russia’s statement is cynical – after all, the enemy had already systematically struck Kyiv. But the occupiers made a fool of themselves, because they had previously said that they were striking at military facilities. Although Ukraine called the attacks terrorist and demonstrated that these were strikes at kindergartens, schools, hospitals, and residential buildings. And with this statement by Lavrov, the Russians seem to be signing off on the fact that until then they had not actually struck at military facilities.
The website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes the conversation in detail. They explained that Putin had instructed the Americans to provide information about future “systemic and consistent” strikes on Kyiv. However, nothing was said about Rubio’s reaction to Moscow’s threats.
Instead, it says that the parties “confirmed the mutual willingness, despite known differences, to intensify efforts to normalize the working conditions of diplomatic missions of Russia and the United States on each other’s territory.”
“Lavrov drew attention to the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry dated May 25, in which the United States, along with other states that have representations in Kyiv, is recommended to ensure the evacuation of its diplomatic personnel and other citizens from the Ukrainian capital,” the Russians repeated their threats to the West.
Lavrov also expressed regret that the agreements between Russia and the United States in Anchorage regarding the “Ukrainian conflict” were never implemented. He blamed the breakdown on the “shoddy efforts of the European elites and the Kyiv regime.”
They also talked about Cuba and the Strait of Hormuz.
Why do Western embassies need to leave Kyiv?
The attacks on Kyiv on May 24 were called revenge for Starobilsk in Moscow – allegedly the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a college with teenagers on May 22. But there is evidence on the Internet from the students themselves, they say that they are all studying remotely, and “some soldiers lived in the building.”
Maria Zakharova stated on May 25 that Russia has run out of patience and will attack Kyiv’s defense enterprises. That is why she advised foreign diplomats to leave Kyiv.
They reported on the evening of May 25 that they are not going to leave. And the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called the Russian threats blackmail.
