The national regulator NEURC has begun preparations for another increase in the electricity transmission tariff. According to information from the energy market, the Commission is already working on new calculations for Ukrenergo, which should cover the growing costs of repairing and protecting the energy infrastructure. This is reported by Pershyi Biznesovyi, the PromPolitInform portal reports.
The regulator explains that the current tariff does not meet the real needs of the transmission system operator. Due to constant attacks on energy facilities, costs for emergency work, equipment procurement, and network modernization have sharply increased. In addition, part of the funds are directed to the integration of the Ukrainian power system with the European ENTSO E.
According to preliminary estimates, a decision on the new tariff may be made after the completion of consultations with the market. Experts note that the increase will inevitably affect the cost of electricity for industry, especially for enterprises with a high level of consumption. For the population, a direct increase in price is not yet predicted, but the transmission tariff is a component of the final price, so the impact may be indirect.
Ukrenergo emphasizes that without adjusting the tariff, the company will not be able to ensure stable operation of the main networks and implement critically important investment programs. The company emphasizes that the reliability of energy supply during peak loads and attacks depends on the state of the networks.
Recall that the tariff revision is a forced step, but the business calls on the regulator to avoid sharp jumps so as not to create additional pressure on the economy.
