Ukroboronprom gets interim head after Vyshneve tragedy

The interim head of the company has experience in the defense industry and public administration

A competition has been announced in Ukraine for the position of CEO of JSC Ukrainian Defense Industry. Serhiy Boev has been appointed interim head of the company. RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to a statement from the press service of Ukroboronprom. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

The company’s Supervisory Board has begun a search for a new CEO due to the dismissal of the previous head, German Smetanin.

While the competitive selection is ongoing, Serhiy Boev will temporarily act as head of Ukroboronprom.

What is known about Sergey Boyev

It is noted that the new interim head has significant experience in the defense industry and public administration.

In particular, Boyev held the positions of Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries and Deputy Minister of Defense. He was responsible for the development of the defense-industrial complex and interaction with international partners.

What preceded

Let us recall that today German Smetanin announced that he was leaving the post of General Director of Ukroboronprom. His decision was made after the explosions at the ammunition depot in Vyshneve and a wave of personnel changes in the defense industry.

Smetanin emphasized that the main achievement during his work was the strong professional team of the enterprise and its production sites. At the same time, he did not name the reasons for his resignation.

It should be noted that on the night of July 6, Russian occupiers attacked the ammunition depot of one of the enterprises of Ukroboronprom, located in Vyshneve, Kyiv region.

After that, President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered to conduct comprehensive inspections at the enterprises of the defense-industrial complex and announced the preparation of personnel decisions.

Later, Ukroboronprom announced the dismissal of two heads of enterprises due to violations of requirements for the storage of ammunition. The company emphasized that all those involved in the violations will be held criminally liable.
