Ukraine forms new Cabinet: first details

People’s deputies spoke about the course of consultations on the candidacy of the Prime Minister and possible changes in ministries.

On Tuesday, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, after which the process of forming a new Cabinet of Ministers began in the parliament. This, Mind reports, was reported by parliamentarians on their social networks. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

What is known about the course of consultations

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Getmantsev reported that the faction held a meeting with the participation of the candidate for the post of Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky. According to him, they have a common understanding of the problems, the necessary steps are clear, so he will support this candidacy.

People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak said that by the evening it is planned to form a package of candidates for ministerial positions, and the next day they will try to appoint most of them, including the heads of the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense.

Another meeting of the faction is planned for the evening, after 6:00 p.m. – this time with the participation of the president, where more details are expected. Most likely, the official submission of the coalition on the appointment of the prime minister will take place after this meeting.

What is known about the changes in the ministries

Ministry of Defense – there are currently many versions, but the deputies are waiting for the final decision until the evening;

Ministry of Education – according to the people’s deputies, Oksen Lisovy will definitely be replaced in his position. The main candidate for replacement is called the head of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education Andriy Butenko, although the final decision has not yet been made, so other options are not excluded;

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources is planned to be divided into two departments: the Ministry of Economy and Ecology, as well as a separate Ministry of Agrarian Policy. The main contender for the latter position is the current Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Vysotsky;

The Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure (Minvidnovlenie) is also planned to be divided into two structures: the Ministry of Regions, which may be headed by Vitaliy Bezgin (People’s Deputy from “SN”), and a separate Ministry of Infrastructure;

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs, according to People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko, may be headed by the Head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Vitaly Kim;

The Ministry of Finance – according to Hetmantsev, there are reasons to believe that Serhiy Marchenko will remain in this position in the new government.

The possibility of creating a new separate ministry for internally displaced persons is also being considered.

The parliamentarians note that there are currently no final decisions on personnel changes in the government, but they are expected by the end of the day.

At the same time, a large-scale renewal of the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers and the reform of individual ministries are being discussed.
