The generals voiced specific steps to improve defense
The Ukrainian military leadership is scaling up effective solutions at the corps level and determining the needs for weapons for the most difficult areas of the front. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to his official Telegram channel. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
Details of the negotiations and the situation on the front
The Head of State, together with the Deputy Head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Pavlo Palisa, continued a series of meetings with the commanders of the corps that hold defense in the most intensive areas of the front.
The commanders of six army and airborne assault corps – Dmitry Voloshyn, Artem Bogomolov, Oleksiy Maystrenko, Yevhen Lasiychuk, Svyatoslav Zaits and Yaroslav Sidorov – were in touch.
The participants discussed the nature of the fighting in the Sloviansk, Pokrovsky, Oleksandrivsky, Kharkiv and other difficult directions.
Special attention was paid to the program of fair distribution of personnel for combat brigades, which has been operating since December and has already proven its effectiveness.
“We discussed the necessary supply of weapons and equipment for conducting combat operations, implementing rotations, protecting our logistics and destroying the logistics of the Russians. We need more long-range artillery – 155-caliber shells,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
According to the president, the priority for the troops remains increasing the supply of ground robotic complexes (GRCs). The authorities and manufacturers will be involved in the creation of additional means for medium-range strikes (middle strikes).
Proposals of commanders
During the conversation, the corps leaders voiced specific technical and strategic steps to improve defense.
“I especially want to thank Brigadier General Voloshyn for his proposals to scale up in the corps the work that is already yielding results at the brigade level, to refine the means and to have our own production,” the head of state noted.
He also noted General Maystrenko’s report on solving technical problems in his direction and General Sidorov’s clear vision of steps to provide troops.
Possible personnel changes in the Armed Forces
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky is considering the possibility of dismissing the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky. However, according to journalists, the head of state will take this step only if he finds a worthy replacement for the position.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers also expressed criticism of the military leadership. In particular, the former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov publicly spoke about the conflict with the generals.
In his opinion, Ukraine will be able to win the war against Russia if the president replaces not only the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky, but also the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Andriy Gnatov.
