Ukrainian air defence neutralises 106 enemy drones during night attack

Overnight on 17 August, Russia launched 128 strike and decoy drones against Ukraine. Defense forces managed to shoot down and suppress 106 enemy UAVs.

This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The enemy attacked Ukrainian territory using Shahed drones, including jet-powered variants, as well as Gerber-type UAVs and Parodiya decoy drones. Launches were executed from Russian airspace near Kursk, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk.

Mobile fire groups, fighter aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare forces, and unmanned system operators were deployed to repel the air strike.

Air engagement geography and strike consequences

As of 08:30, the destruction and tracking loss of enemy UAVs were confirmed across the northern, southern, and eastern regions of Ukraine. Meanwhile, 14 enemy drones struck designated target locations, and falling debris was recorded in two areas.
