A major fire has broken out at the Izhorsky industrial site in the Kolpinsky district of St. Petersburg, Russia. The facility houses heavy industry, metallurgy, and energy sector enterprises.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Катерина Коваль), according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Footage of the massive blaze was released on social media, though the official cause of the incident remains unknown. Monitoring resources note that no drone attacks were recorded on the site.
The production zone includes a number of strategic enterprises
The Izhorsky site is one of the key hubs for heavy industry in the rf. Specifically, it hosts metallurgical facilities, metal processing plants, and machinery manufacturing plants.
Also located at the site are production facilities servicing the needs of the atomic and energy sectors of the Russian Federation.
Fires at industrial facilities in the rf have become more frequent
This fire is the latest incident at industrial facilities in the suburbs of St. Petersburg in recent months. In July, a fire engulfed an industrial park in Vsevolozhsk.
Last month, there were also reports of a massive drone attack on St. Petersburg and Tver, which resulted in a large fire at a Wildberries warehouse.
