The British government has allowed defence company MBDA to disclose classified data regarding its missile components to Ukraine and France. This decision aims to facilitate the assembly of SCALP missiles directly on Ukrainian territory.

British defence enterprise MBDA has received official authorisation to share classified technical information with Ukraine and France. The documentation pertains to UK-manufactured components used in air-launched missiles.
The SCALP long-range missile is the French variant of the British Storm Shadow. Both weapon systems rely on shared technological developments from the two European nations.
British Support and Kiev Visit
Acquiring the required technical documentation is expected to help establish the assembly process for these missile systems at Ukrainian facilities. The United Kingdom reasserted its commitment to providing comprehensive assistance to Ukraine’s defence sector.
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham stressed that Ukraine’s security is directly tied to the security of his own nation. He underscored London’s firm stance on achieving a lasting and just peace.
The announcement regarding technology transfer came ahead of the British Prime Minister’s first official foreign trip in his current role. His visit to Kyiv is scheduled for 24 August to meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and chair a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing.
Burnham noted that on the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, the British side will continue to provide support for as long as necessary.
