Ukraine has expressed its readiness to join the Turkish proposal for a mutual moratorium on strikes against civilian vessels, energy infrastructure, and ports in the Black Sea. This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Nariman Dzhelyalov. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Official Kyiv confirms its readiness for cooperation with Ankara to ensure the security of maritime trade routes. The diplomat voiced this position during an event in Ankara dedicated to Independence Day.
Maritime corridor security
Nariman Dzhelyalov emphasized that the Black Sea should become a zone of trade and cooperation rather than remaining a site of military hostilities. The Ukrainian side urges crews and vessel operators to consider security risks and strictly adhere to navigational warnings.
The diplomat also assured Ukraine’s readiness to work together with Turkish partners to monitor events and ensure the security of civilian maritime transport. Today, the region remains extremely dangerous due to the aggressive actions of the rf.
Consequences of Russian attacks
According to the embassy, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the rf has damaged or destroyed at least 1,054 port infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. Attacks on 232 civilian vessels have been recorded, with over 30 of them affected in the summer of 2026 alone.
307 people have been killed or wounded in these attacks, including citizens of Ukraine and other states. Previously, Turkey had already imposed restrictions on the movement of commercial vessels in the Black Sea due to systematic shelling.
