Ukrtelecom is preparing to enter the mobile communication market with a new brand, U Mobile, which will operate as a virtual mobile operator. The service will focus on providing bundled services combining optical internet and mobile connectivity. This was reported by Glavcom citing the Telegram channel of MZU, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The new project will function as an MVNO, meaning it will use the existing infrastructure of another operator, specifically the Kyivstar network, without building its own base stations. Operational matters, tariff setting, and customer service will remain under the responsibility of Ukrtelecom.
The core development strategy involves introducing convergent packages based on the FMC model. Subscribers will be able to access home optical internet via GPON technology and mobile services under a single contract, which will simplify payment and service management.
Tariff policy features of the new operator
Users of U Mobile can expect a special line of offers called “Simka”. Initial packages will include up to 60 GB of mobile data, 500 minutes of outgoing calls to other Ukrainian operators, and 15 text messages.
A distinctive feature of the brand will be the rejection of the common four-week payment cycle. Subscription fees will be charged per calendar month, and a “Light Start” option is being introduced for new clients, allowing them to use services until the end of the current month after payment.
Loyalty system and service expansion
The operator plans to apply a 15% discount for customers who undergo the identification procedure or port their number using the MNP system. An additional 5% discount will be available for those who use a special promo code.
Launching its own mobile brand will allow the company to use its existing fixed-line infrastructure more effectively. This will expand options for consumers seeking to obtain telecommunication services from a single provider as a bundle.
