Internet provider Lanet recorded the highest average download speed among Ukrainian operators, according to data collected by the gaming platform Steam. For the first time, satellite service Starlink also entered the top ten.
According to Mezha, which analyzed the platform’s open statistics, Lanet’s average speed reached 121 Mbps, Mediasat reports, as cited by PromPolitInform.
Other leading providers include Triolan with 90.7 Mbps, Vodafone Ukraine with 89.7 Mbps, and Maxnet with 88.1 Mbps. The top ten also features HomeNet, Kyivstar, Volia, Ukrtelecom, ExinTech, and Starlink, whose average speed stood at 57.9 Mbps.
Steam compiles these indicators based on the actual download speeds of games and updates from its servers. However, providers are ranked by total data volume transmitted rather than by speed. Some companies appear under their legal entity names rather than commercial brands. Therefore, the data does not represent a universal internet quality ranking but effectively reflects real network throughput under load.
Globally, Steam has recorded record-breaking figures: over the past 48 hours, the platform transmitted up to 34.8 terabits per second (Tbps) of data. The largest share of traffic comes from Asia, particularly China, at around 13.7 Tbps. Europe accounts for approximately 11.8 Tbps, while North America consumes about 11.2 Tbps. Ukrainian users downloaded roughly 20.5 petabytes of data over the week, representing about 1.3% of Steam’s global traffic. The country’s average download speed stands at 71.5 Mbps.
Internet speed data is also confirmed by Ookla. According to the Speedtest Global Index for December 2025, Ukraine’s average mobile internet speed reached 46.19 Mbps, while fixed broadband averaged 91.03 Mbps. These figures place the country 79th globally for mobile access and 82nd for fixed broadband. Over the year, Ukraine has lost several positions. The global averages stand at 105.7 Mbps for mobile and 118.6 Mbps for fixed access.
In the Speedtest city ranking, Kyiv and Kharkiv are listed among Ukrainian cities. Kharkiv demonstrates higher mobile internet speeds at 76 Mbps, while Kyiv leads in fixed broadband with 93.82 Mbps. Both cities have dropped in the global ranking over the past year. Analysts attribute this decline to the impact of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and unstable electricity supply affecting telecommunications networks.
