Verkhovna Rada opens the sixteenth session of the IX convocation

Parliamentarians will work in the current convocation until February 2027

The Verkhovna Rada has officially launched the 16th session of the IX convocation. This event marks a new record in the history of Ukrainian parliamentarism. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The inaugural meeting was attended by people’s deputies, government representatives led by Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, and the leadership of the legislative body.

The opening of the new session was preceded by the official conclusion of the 15th session, which was carried out in accordance with the Constitution and the parliamentary regulations during martial law, explained Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk.

Registration of deputies

To participate in the session opening procedure, 194 people’s deputies registered in the chamber.

“I declare the 15th session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the IX convocation and its plenary meeting closed, and simultaneously, in accordance with Article 83 of the Constitution of Ukraine, I declare the 16th session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the IX convocation and its plenary meeting open,” stated Ruslan Stefanchuk.

Procedural aspects

After the announcement of the opening of the 16th session, the deputies and government officials present in the hall performed the national anthem of Ukraine.

Under the Constitution, sessions must begin on the first Tuesday of September. The current session will run until February 2027.
