Ukrainian Armor Unveils New Sajgak-1 and Varta-3 Armoured Vehicles at MSPO-2026

Machines received different protection levels and are built for combat missions

At the MSPO-2026 exhibition in Poland, the domestic manufacturer presented the Sajgak-1 light armoured pickup truck and the Varta-3 MRAP vehicle. The new equipment models are designed for personnel transport, patrolling, and special operations. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Лев Шевченко) citing the Ukrainian Armor, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The presentation of the latest armoured vehicles took place at the international defence exhibition in Poland. As company CEO Vladyslav Belbas noted, demonstrating new products at this venue has already become a good tradition for the manufacturer.

The lightly armoured vehicle is built on an all-wheel-drive chassis and powered by a 240 horsepower diesel engine. The machine is capable of reaching speeds up to 140 kilometres per hour and has a cruising range of up to 600 kilometres thanks to an 80-litre fuel tank.

Pickup Equipment and Protection

The vehicle body provides PZSA 3 ballistic protection and Level 1 mine protection according to STANAG 4569. The pickup crew consists of two service members, with three additional seats allocated for the landing party.

The design features front and rear cameras, an automatic fire suppression system, and RunFlat tires. An air conditioning and heating system is provided for crew comfort.

MRAP Technical Parameters

The all-wheel-drive Varta-3 is an advanced version of the previous model, built on a German-made Mercedes-Benz Unimog chassis. Using the new platform reduced production costs and improved the vehicle’s driving performance.

The armoured capsule provides PZSA 6 ballistic protection and 3a/3b mine protection according to STANAG 4569. The power plant consists of a 326 horsepower diesel engine with 1400 Nm of torque and an automatic transmission.

Combat Capabilities of the Vehicle

The gross weight of the vehicle reaches 14,800 kilograms with a maximum speed of up to 100 kilometres per hour. The interior accommodates a crew of two and eight paratroopers on anti-mine seats.

For combat tasks, Varta-3 can be equipped with a machine gun mount or a remotely controlled combat module. The configuration also includes communication and navigation systems, video surveillance, automatic fire extinguishing, air conditioning, heating, and an NBC filtration system.
