The company continues to fund state needs despite ongoing russian attacks
During the first half of 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia contributed 13.2 billion UAH in taxes and fees to budgets at all levels. This figure was achieved amidst significant financial losses and infrastructure destruction caused by hostilities. This was reported by Delo.ua, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Financial transfers by the state-owned company include payments to both the central budget and local treasuries. Specifically, more than 3.6 billion UAH was directed to the national budget, while the share for local communities amounted to 5 billion UAH. The remaining 4.6 billion UAH was paid as a unified social contribution for state social insurance.
Impact of hostilities on railway operations
The consistent fulfillment of tax obligations takes place under the challenging conditions of the full-scale war launched by russia. The company regularly deals with the aftermath of enemy shelling, which damages railway infrastructure and locomotive fleets. Frequent destruction requires the company to allocate substantial resources for emergency repairs and restoring the normal operation of the transport network.
Dynamics of equipment damage in 2026
The scale of russian aggression against civilian infrastructure has increased significantly in 2026. According to company data, 310 locomotives have been damaged since the beginning of this year. For comparison, the figure for the entire period from February 2022 to the end of 2025 was 227 units of equipment.
Despite constant threats and financial pressure, Ukrzaliznytsia remains one of the largest taxpayers in the country. The company continues to perform its core functions, ensuring the stable transportation of passengers and strategically important cargo within Ukraine.
