Evgeniy Khmara and Boris Pistorius Discussed Ballistic Defence and Joint Drone Production

Ukrainian forces are already striking Russian launchers

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Evgeniy Khmara held a phone call with Federal Minister of Defence of Germany Boris Pistorius. The defence chiefs discussed counteracting jet drones, ballistic threats, strengthening air defence, and industrial cooperation. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude to partners for the prompt delivery of ammunition for F-16 fighter jets, which are demonstrating high efficiency against enemy drones. German support has also enabled more effective interception of jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles.

In parallel, Ukraine continues to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of electronic warfare systems to protect its cities. Technological solutions proven effective against jet-powered loitering munitions are being prepared for scaling up.

Countering Ballistic Threats and Protecting Critical Infrastructure

During the call, the officials addressed the threat of Russian ballistic missile strikes. To neutralise this menace, Ukrainian forces are employing asymmetric responses and launching strikes against enemy missile launchers, yielding tangible results.

The sides also reviewed immediate priorities for protecting critical infrastructure, particularly in the capital region. A key imperative remains the steady supply of interceptors for IRIS-T air defence systems.

Defence Industry Cooperation and Experience Sharing

Considerable focus was placed on enhancing industrial cooperation and establishing joint UAV production. Furthermore, the discussion covered the transfer of Ukrainian combat experience to bolster Germany’s defence capabilities.

The Ukrainian defence chief thanked his German counterpart for consistent support and flexibility in finding solutions to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
