Large-scale funding for Russian information influence in Europe has lasted for decades
The Russian Federation has invested amounts comparable to its military spending in Ukraine into its propaganda presence in Europe. Moscow's information efforts are part of a long-term financial programme aimed at waging hybrid warfare. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Russia has mounted a prolonged hybrid aggression against European nations, including Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The Kremlin relies on information pressure methods previously tested on Ukrainian society via media platforms and social networks.
Scale of Hybrid Warfare and Areas of Influence
Russian leadership systematically exploits sensitive topics to fracture foreign societies. Key target areas include language and religious issues, migration concerns, and support for far-right movements.
Moscow seeks to deprive European nations of the ability to independently shape their future and political choices. Similar destructive tactics and Russia’s extensive influence network are currently operating within the United States as well.
