Budapest halted Kyiv's progress toward the European community
Hungary halted the review of the two final negotiating clusters regarding Ukraine's European integration. The restrictions affect key stages of the official dialogue on our state's accession to the European Union. This was reported by UkrRudProm, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Official Budapest decided to stop the process of approving the most critical sections within the framework of Ukraine’s European integration course. Such a position by the neighboring state’s government makes further progress in negotiations impossible at the current stage.
Diplomatic sources note that the blockage concerns the final blocks of issues that were supposed to bring the Ukrainian side closer to membership in united Europe. This creates additional obstacles for the implementation of the reform roadmap.
Position of European institutions
The leadership of the European Union is currently seeking ways to overcome the diplomatic crisis caused by the veto of an individual member of the community. Officials emphasize the importance of adhering to previously agreed enlargement procedures.
The issue of the further fate of the negotiation process remains open against the background of ongoing consultations in Brussels. The Ukrainian side continues to fulfill its obligations despite external obstacles.
