EU to propose list of concessions demanded from Russia as part of peace deal with Ukraine – Kallas

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said she will propose a list of concessions that Europe should demand from Russia as part of a peace settlement and end to the war in Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters, Ukrinform reports, and the PromPolitInform portal reports.

«Everyone at the negotiating table, including the Russians and Americans, must understand that European consent is necessary (for a peace agreement),» Kallas told a group of reporters in Brussels.

She added that Europe «also has conditions» for sustainable peace.

«And we should set these conditions not for the Ukrainians, who are already under great pressure, but for the Russians,» the EU official emphasized.

As reported, Kallas is convinced that Europe should demand concessions from Russia, in particular, limitations on its military force, army, and nuclear weapons, and demand accountability «for the crimes committed.»
