The Cabinet of Ministers will fund shelters in educational institutions.

The government has allocated 5 billion hryvnias in the state budget for the construction of shelters for schools. Another billion hryvnias are planned for underground kindergartens. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko following a meeting with the heads of regional military administrations, according to Sotsportal. PromPolitInform reports.

“Shelter funds. We have allocated 5 billion hryvnias for shelters for schools and 1 billion hryvnias for underground kindergartens, primarily in frontline regions,” she wrote on Telegram.

According to her, it is essential to create safe conditions for offline or blended learning for Ukrainian children.

“The regional military administrations must monitor the timely implementation of construction plans,” the prime minister noted. Following the current meeting with the heads of regional military administrations, Sviridenko also noted that separate funding has been allocated for the modernization of school cafeterias, ensuring that children receive not only free but also high-quality meals.

“We expect the regional military administration and local governments to establish processes for organizing hot lunches with the involvement of local businesses,” the Prime Minister noted.

As previously reported, the government decided to reallocate UAH 231 million in subsidies to complete school shelter construction in 11 regions. These projects concern 22 projects that are in the final stages and at least 60% complete in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Kherson, and Khmelnytskyi regions.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers, this will allow construction to be completed this year and provide safe conditions for in-person or blended learning for 10,000 Ukrainian children in schools, military lyceums, naval lyceums, and lyceums with enhanced military physical training.
