Their weapons are a camera, and their mission is the truth: military journalists are honored in Ukraine.
Today in Ukraine is the Day of celebration of military journalists – those who, risking their lives, perform tasks from the first days of the Russian-Ukrainian war, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
The date was chosen in honor of the memory of war correspondent Dmitry Labutkin, who died on that day during the hostilities in eastern Ukraine in 2015.
It was on February 16, 2015 near Debaltseve that the military journalist of the Breeze television and radio studio Dmitry Labutkin died. He showed the whole world that it was the Russian invasion of Ukraine that was happening, and not the “civil war,” as enemy propaganda described it. And he was the first, but not the last victim of this aggression.
The day of celebration of military journalists is not a holiday, but a day of reminder of the difficult, painstaking and very important work that is a significant part of the country’s defense. After all, through the eyes of military media, not only Ukraine, but the whole world sees all the crimes of the invaders and the courage, sacrifice and heroism of Ukrainian soldiers.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, despite the constant danger, representatives of military media structures have been preparing hundreds of messages, stories and reports from the front lines every day.
The staff of the portal PromPolitInform honors the memory of those military journalists who, in fulfilling their duty, gave the most important thing – their lives.
