On February 26, 1000 bodies were delivered to Ukraine, which, according to the Russian side, belong to the dead Ukrainian servicemen, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said, the PromPolitInform. portal informs.
The department noted that the next step will be the identification of the repatriated dead. To do this, Ukrainian law enforcement officers, together with expert institutions, will conduct all the necessary procedures.
The Coordstab stressed that these repatriation measures were made possible thanks to the joint work of representatives of the Coordstab, the Joint Center under the SBU, the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service and other structures of the security and defense sector of Ukraine.

Special thanks were expressed to the International Committee of the Red Cross for promoting and supporting the implementation of repatriation measures.
On the eve of the assistant to the President of Russia and the head of the Russian negotiating delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, reported that Ukraine handed over to the Russian Federation 35 bodies of the dead Russian military.

Previous exchanges of bodies took place regularly: on January 29, Ukraine received 1,000 bodies from the Russian Federation and transferred 38 dead Russians; On December 19, 2025, 1003 bodies were returned; during June 2025 – 6057 bodies; July 17, within the framework of the Istanbul Agreements – another 1000 bodies; August 19, September 18 and October 23 – 1000 bodies each; November 20 – another 1,000 bodies.
Ukraine during the exchange on January 29 also handed over to Russia the body of its soldier, whom the Russian Federation claimed for the deceased Ukrainian defender.
