The former head of the regional prosecutor’s office and the head of the department have been charged. This was reported by RegioNews, citing the NABU, as reported by the portal PromPolitInform.
The defendants allegedly demanded and received improper benefits from companies in exchange for not prosecuting their employees and closing criminal proceedings.
In particular, in 2021, prosecutors received $100,000 for closing a case involving the embezzlement of state property.
Furthermore, the prosecutor’s office leadership organized a “3% for peace” scheme, systematically taking kickbacks from a road company fulfilling contracts worth hundreds of millions of hryvnias.
In the Carpathian region, officials from Ukrzaliznytsia and the State Emergency Service were reportedly selling their positions. They face significant prison terms for their actions.
