In total, in two days of the big exchange, 500 Ukrainians returned home. Among those released are servicemen of various units: Ground Forces, Air Assault Forces, Naval Forces, Air Forces, Territorial Defense Forces and Unmanned Systems Forces.

Ukraine and Russia held the second stage of the exchange of prisoners of war. 300 Ukrainian defenders and two civilians returned to their homeland.

This was announced by President Vladimir Zelensky, informs the portal PromPolitInform.

“Another 300 Ukrainian defenders are returning home from Russian captivity. Also, two civilian Ukrainians managed to be returned today.

Among them are guys from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, our border service. Privates, sergeants, officers. They defended Ukraine in different directions: Donetsk, Lugansk, Kharkov, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, in Mariupol. Most of them have been in captivity for over a year, some since 2022,” he noted.

Exchange of prisoners on March 5

  • Ukraine and Russia exchanged prisoners of war. 200 Ukrainian soldiers were liberated – these are the defenders of Mariupol, Donetsk region, Lugansk region, Kharkiv region, Zaporozhye. Soldiers of the Armed Forces, the State Special Transport Service, border guards and national guardsmen.
  • As the head of the OP Kirill Budanov noted, on March 5, the first stage of the exchange of prisoners of war between Ukraine and Russia took place.
