On the night of May 18, 2026, Russian troops launched a combined strike on the territory of Ukraine using strike UAVs and ground-based missiles.
This was reported by the press center of the Air Force Command, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
As noted, the main direction of the strike is the Dnieper and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Odessa, Chernihiv and Zaporozhye were also attacked.
According to the Air Force, a total of 546 means of air attack (22 missiles and 524 UAVs) were recorded by the radio engineering forces of the Air Force:
14 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles (launch areas – Rostov region of the Russian Federation, TOT AR of Crimea);
8 Iskander-K cruise missiles (launch areas – TOT AR of Crimea);
524 shock UAVs of the Shahed, Gerber, Italmas type, imitation drones of the Parody type.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, EW units and unmanned systems, mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
How did our air defense work?
According to preliminary data, as of 08.30, air defense shot down/suppressed 507 targets – 4 missiles and 503 drones of various types:
4 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
503 enemy UAVs of various types.
18 missiles and 16 attack UAVs were hit at 34 locations, as well as the fall of downed (wreckage) UAVs at 11 locations.
“The attack continues, several enemy UAVs are in the air,” the Air Force said.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian army attacked the territory of Ukraine with the help of attack drones on the evening of May 17.
At night, the Russian Federation attacked the Dnieper and the region with missiles and drones: 6 areas under massive strikes.
In addition, Russian troops attacked a “shahed” Chinese merchant ship in the territorial waters of Ukraine.
