US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that the US wants Ukraine to be able to defend itself and will find a way to ensure this.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that Washington intends to continue supporting Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and will look for opportunities to provide the necessary assistance. “Sudebno-yuridicheskaya Gazeta” informs about this, of the Pentagon said this during the Asian Security Summit, which is taking place in Singapore, reports Clash Report. The PromPolitInform portal reports.
During a conversation with journalists, Hegseth was asked about the letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the shortage of air defense equipment amid increased Russian shelling.
In response, the head of the US defense department stressed that the US is working to increase the production of critical ammunition and weapons to increase the volume of supplies.
According to him, the United States helps Ukraine where it has the opportunity, and also encourages European allies to take on the bulk of the support.
Hegseth also positively assessed the increase in assistance from European countries. He noted that Europe has significantly stepped up its efforts to support Ukraine, and Ukraine itself demonstrates the effective use of the resources provided.
“I am inspired by the European commitment to the cause. If you look at the amount of money spent, Europe has stepped up, and Ukraine has been no less, if not more effective in this process. So we want them to be able to defend themselves, and we will find a way to provide them with assistance,” Hegseth said.
As is known, President Volodymyr Zelensky sent a letter to US President Donald Trump and the US Congress regarding the critical shortage of air defense systems for Ukraine.
