NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte addressed the Russians during his visit to Kyiv. He stressed that the Kremlin is sending Russian citizens to the war in Ukraine with a high chance that they will be wounded at the front and left to die in the mud. He said this, writes “Ukrainian News“, during a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine in Kyiv, which was broadcast by “Social”. The PromPolitInform portal reports.
“I want to say a few things here, to address the Russians and their families. They have arranged a rodeo for you. They are giving you ammunition, equipment that is not suitable, they are sending you with a high chance that you will be wounded or killed. And I want to say that even if you are wounded, you will be left to suffer in the mud until you die. Keep in mind that tens of thousands of victims from Russia are not an abstraction. You will probably be one of them,” his message to citizens of the occupying state of Russia reads.
He also added that the Russian economy is under significant strain, and Russia is not able to compensate for all the costs that the war requires. Rutte stressed the need to force Russia to return to the negotiating table so that they stop “the war that they started 10 years ago.”
“Although, unfortunately, there are no signs that they are ready to stop. We see that civilians continue to die, cities are destroyed. We very strongly condemn Russia’s aggression and their unwillingness to achieve peace,” he noted.
The NATO Secretary General also confirmed the support of Ukraine by all 32 members of the North Atlantic Alliance.
“We see how you, Volodymyr, your country is very keen on peace. That is why we are ready for our support for Ukraine to continue. And we have stated this through the lips of all 32 members of the Alliance here today, in Kyiv. We are talking about unwavering commitment to the idea of supporting Ukraine, about continuing our cooperation,” he concluded.
As reported, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte arrived in Kyiv on an official visit. The program of the bloc’s leader’s visit included a number of critically important talks aimed at strengthening defense cooperation and coordinating joint actions to counter Russian aggression.
