White House Agrees on Hellish Sanctions Against Russia — Lindsey Graham

The US announced that the White House has agreed on a new bill on sanctions against Russia. According to Senator Lindsey Graham, the document is already supported by the Donald Trump administration, which significantly increases the chances of its adoption. This is reported by UA.NEWS, according to the PromPolitInform portal.

The new package of sanctions against Russia has become one step closer to adoption. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that the White House has agreed on the final version of the bill and is ready to support it. “About 30 minutes ago, we reached an agreement with the White House on the version of the bill on sanctions against Russia that they will support. This means that it will become law,” Graham said.

According to the senator, the new document will give US President Donald Trump the right to impose additional sanctions and duties against countries that continue to buy Russian oil, gas and other energy resources. This primarily concerns countries that help the Kremlin earn profits from energy exports, despite existing international restrictions. Lindsey Graham explained that the main goal of the bill is to force such countries to gradually abandon Russian energy resources and find alternative suppliers. According to him, the document does not provide for immediate punishments, but gives US partners time to switch to other energy sources. “This bill is designed to encourage those who buy Russian oil and gas to find new sources of supply. We will give you time to find new sources, we will reward you for finding them, but this decision must be made by you. The sooner it becomes clear to Putin, the sooner it becomes clear to countries like China that you can’t help Putin without paying a price for it, the sooner this war will end,” the senator emphasized.

He also noted that the bill already has 85 co-sponsors in the US Senate. He worked on the document together with Senators Richard Blumenthal and Jeanne Shaheen to get it supported by the presidential administration. According to Graham, after the adoption of the new law, the United States will receive additional tools for economic pressure on Russia and its partners. In addition, sanctions can help strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, in particular in the field of ballistic missile defense, and also make it more difficult for countries that help Moscow circumvent international restrictions.

Separately, the senator touched on the issue of military support for Ukraine. He admitted that currently the US does not have broad political support for direct financing of new military assistance. “Europe is ready to buy American weapons, and we need to continue to sell them. We need to cooperate with Ukraine in the field of drones in our own interests. This partnership makes America safer,” Graham said.

At the same time, he emphasized that Washington should continue to develop cooperation with the Ukrainian military. According to him, the experience of the Ukrainian army, especially in the use of modern technologies and drones, is important for the United States itself.

If the bill is finally approved by Congress and signed by the president, the United States will have the opportunity to significantly increase economic pressure not only on Russia, but also on countries that continue to support the Russian economy by purchasing oil and gas. This, according to the authors of the document, should become another lever of influence on the Kremlin and accelerate the end of the war. He stated this during a press conference in Kyiv.

US President Donald Trump said that Iran has appealed to Washington with a request to resume the negotiation process. According to him, the American side has agreed to continue the dialogue.
