Ukraine and EU to sign Drone Deal

Ukraine and the EU have agreed on the terms of the Drone Deal — an agreement on drone production. This was stated in Kyiv by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during the celebrations for Ukrainian Statehood Day, DS reports. PromPolitInform portal reports.

“Ukraine has largely gone from a buyer to a supplier of a security network for Europe. This obliges us to new ways of cooperation. That is why I am pleased to launch, together with you, Volodymyr [Zelensky], a new defense-industrial partnership between the EU and Ukraine. Today we are signing our own Drone Deal,” she said.

According to the high-ranking official, this deal will combine Ukrainian ingenuity and Europe’s industrial capacity.

“With this deal, our message is clear — it is time to invest in Ukraine. Because it is an investment in European security and a common future,” she noted.

During the event, President Zelensky also presented Ursula von der Leyen with the Order of Europe, a new state award of Ukraine.

As a reminder, on the morning of July 15, the President of the European Commission arrived in Kyiv for celebrations marking the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Day of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus. It was also planned that Ursula von der Leyen would announce new cooperation initiatives in the defense sector.
