In the night of August 19, the Sverdlov defense chemical plant caught fire in Dzerzhinsk, Russia, due to a mass drone attack.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Катерина Коваль) citing ASTRA, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

On the night of August 19, drones carried out a mass attack on the city of Dzerzhinsk in the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to OSINT analysis, the source of the massive smoke over the city was the territory of the Sverdlov defense chemical plant.

During the night, footage of a mass drone attack and thick smoke over the city was recorded in Dzerzhinsk.

According to photo analysis, the source of the smoke is highly likely located on the territory of the Sverdlov explosives plant. The facility is located approximately five kilometers from an apartment building that was previously damaged by a drone.

The Sverdlov plant is part of Russia’s military-industrial complex

The Sverdlov plant is a town-forming enterprise of Dzerzhinsk. It is one of the largest manufacturers of explosives in the country, with a history of over a hundred years.

The enterprise is under sanctions by Ukraine, the European Union, the USA, Britain, Japan, and Switzerland. This is due to the support of actions that threaten the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

This is not the first strike on the facility

A similar attack on the plant already occurred on April 30.

Earlier, on August 15, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the Progress rocket and space center in Samara, as well as the Savasleyka airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
