Russian drone violated the airspace of Moldova on August 20

During a nighttime Russian strike on Ukraine, a Russian attack drone entered the territory of Moldova. The UAV was present in the neighbouring country's airspace for six minutes. This was reported by Point.md citing the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

According to the Moldovan defence department, the incident was recorded by the National Army’s surveillance systems on the night of August 20. An unidentified aircraft, presumably a Shahed-136 model, crossed the border near the village of Kotlovyna.

Drone flight path

After crossing the border from the Ukrainian side, the weapon moved towards the village of Etulia in Gagauzia. The device remained in Moldovan airspace between 03:16 and 03:22.

Consequences of the incident

After a brief stay in Moldova, the drone turned around and headed back towards Ukraine. The appearance of the UAV took place against the backdrop of massive Russian airstrikes carried out against Ukrainian targets during that period.
