Due to the closure of Ukrainian skies, travelers are increasingly choosing airports in neighboring states for flights. Chisinau and Rzeszow have become the most popular hubs.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Тетяна Самарук) citing Join UP! Ukraine, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
During the full-scale invasion by the rf, travel logistics for citizens of Ukraine have undergone significant changes. Airports in Moldova, Poland, and Romania have become the main departure points for vacations.
According to statistics from Join UP!, the leader among these destinations remains the Chisinau airport. Last year, more than 237,000 Ukrainian tourists used its services.
Logistical advantages of flights via Moldova
The high demand for Chisinau is driven by convenient logistics for residents of central, southern, and eastern regions. In addition to relative proximity, tourists note the comparatively fast passage through border control.
«The advantage of the Chisinau airport is relatively convenient logistics and usually faster border crossing compared to some other directions», — noted the head of Join UP! Ukraine Iryna Mosulezna.
Using Polish airfields
The second place in popularity is held by the Rzeszow airport, which was used by more than 50,000 travelers during the specified period. This option is a priority primarily for residents of the western regions of Ukraine due to geographical proximity.
Besides Rzeszow, Ukrainian tourists often prefer the airports of Warsaw and Katowice. Airfields in Bucharest and other cities of neighboring states also play an important role in transportation.
Factors for choosing a route
There is no single universal option for a flight. When choosing a starting point, travelers consider not only the total distance, but also ticket prices, transfer opportunities, and the current situation at border crossing points.
In recent years, the approach to planning trips has been significantly transformed. Tourists have started to pay much more attention to the predictability of the route and the actual time spent on the road.
