Iranian military leadership has threatened decisive measures in response to US intentions to increase economic pressure. Tehran is preparing to counter the new sanctions, which are to be presented by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Reuters, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran General Ali Abdollahi stated the country’s readiness for action at sea, on land, in the air, as well as in the spheres of cyber defense and air defense. According to him, the country’s armed forces are capable of delivering a punitive response to threats from Washington.
Strategy to counter pressure
Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf emphasized that the American side has allegedly realized the impossibility of a military victory, thus shifting the focus to economic and information-psychological warfare. He called for the development of effective mechanisms to neutralize the impact of sanctions.
Ghalibaf acknowledged the existence of significant difficulties in the country’s domestic economy, despite the existing military power. The official noted that the state’s stability depends directly on financial turnover, national production growth rates, and public welfare.
New round of sanctions
It is expected that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will unveil details of plans regarding restrictions against Iran early next week. Washington has also called on international partners to stop any cooperation with Tehran under the threat of severe consequences for their own economic systems.
