On the night of August 22, 55-year-old junior sergeant of the TCK Oleksandr Bodnar died in Lviv while performing his duties. A local resident attacked the serviceman and inflicted a knife wound on him.
This was reported by Glavcom citing Andriy Sadovyi, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The deceased serviceman was a junior sergeant; he is survived by his parents and a son. Mayor Andriy Sadovyi urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident and bring the perpetrator to justice.
Circumstances of the attack on a TCK employee
The conflict arose during a check of military registration documents by a notification group. A 25-year-old perpetrator used a cold weapon against the soldier, inflicting a fatal wound.
A police officer accompanying the group used his service weapon to stop the attacker, wounding him in the leg. The suspect was hospitalized, while the injured serviceman died during resuscitation attempts by paramedics in an ambulance.
Systemic nature of the attacks in the city
Similar cases of aggression against employees of territorial recruitment centers are becoming recurring in Lviv. In particular, in April 2026, military officer Oleh Avdieiev died from a stab wound to the neck during a notification procedure on Patona Street.
Another incident was recorded on May 29 on Khvylovoho Street, where a 29-year-old man inflicted a knife wound to the shoulder of a TCK representative. The attacker was located and detained after attempting to flee the scene.
