On the night of August 22, Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery and an Ozon distribution complex caught fire in Russia's Samara Region following a drone attack. Regional authorities and the company confirmed damage to the facilities and casualties. This was reported by Ukrinform citing the Telegram channel of Astra, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
In the Samara Region, local authorities declared a UAV threat mode at night while residents reported air defense operations and smoke. OSINT analysts and eyewitnesses reviewed video footage confirming that a fire broke out at the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery.
Drone attack triggers fires at regional industrial and logistics facilities
Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorischev stated that the drone raid damaged an industrial enterprise and the Ozon logistics complex in Chapayevsk. According to investigators, two defense enterprises — JSC Promsyntes and JSC Polymer, which produce explosives and munitions — are located about a kilometer from the burning Ozon complex.
Logistics operator management reports large-scale evacuation
Ozon representatives announced that over 500 employees were evacuated from the warehouse facility within minutes of the attack. The company confirmed several casualties among the staff and added that a significant portion of orders will be cancelled while others are delivered from alternative warehouses.
