Since the beginning of 2026, units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine have completed more than 100,000 missions using ground robotic platforms. All logistics and evacuation operations were logged in the DELTA system. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The deployment of remotely operated systems significantly decreases operational risks for frontline personnel. Ground drones deliver ammunition, food supplies, and drinking water in the most dangerous sectors, and are also engaged in the evacuation of wounded and fallen soldiers.
Minister of Defence Yevhenii Khmara emphasised that safeguarding service members’ lives is a core priority, and technology must provide an advantage while keeping threats to personnel at a minimum.
Deployment dynamics of unmanned ground systems
The operational frequency of ground robotic systems shows continuous month-on-month growth. While 7,511 missions were recorded in January and 7,960 in February, the volume reached 9,072 in March.
In April, the number of missions climbed to 11,028, followed by 14,059 in May and 16,664 in June. July marked the peak monthly activity with 19,969 sorties, while 15,729 missions were completed during the first twenty days of August.
Scale-up in state procurement of robotic platforms
Addressing the growing requirements of combat units, the defence ministry significantly expanded procurement volumes for relevant equipment. Since early 2026, contracts have been signed for over 22,000 ground robotic platforms, nearly doubling the total for the entirety of the previous year.
In addition to centralised supply channels, alternative procurement instruments remain active. Specifically, military personnel ordered platforms worth nearly 1.9 billion hryvnias through the Brave1 Market platform under the eBaly programme.
