Participants of the 'Coalition of the Willing' agreed on August 25 to provide urgent support to Ukraine's energy sector ahead of the winter period. The aid includes the delivery of specialized equipment and funding through the dedicated energy support fund. This was reported by UkrRudProm citing Government of the United Kingdom, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

During the meeting held in Kyiv and via video conference, the coalition leaders confirmed their intentions to strengthen military support, particularly by reinforcing the air defense system. The parties plan to develop cooperation in the defense industry and share technologies for joint arms production.

Security and Energy Support

The heads of partner states expressed the need to protect Ukraine’s economic resilience, considering Russia’s efforts to blockade maritime ports. Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Andy Burnham, President of France Emmanuel Macron, and Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz announced plans to increase sanctions pressure on the Russian military-industrial complex.

The restrictions will target attempts to circumvent sanctions and the activities of the ‘shadow fleet’ used by the aggressor state. The coalition will also continue preparing multinational forces for deployment in Ukraine following the establishment of a reliable ceasefire as part of future security guarantees.

Peaceful Settlement and Sanctions

The coalition members commended the readiness of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for a dialogue aimed at achieving a just peace. The leaders once again called on Russia to cease fire along the contact line and emphasized that threats from Moscow would not influence the allies’ decision to continue assisting Ukraine.
