Ukrainian company Fire Point plans to open a solid rocket fuel production facility in Denmark by the end of 2027. Construction delays were caused by the need to reinforce the building's walls and environmental regulations regarding a rare worm species. This was reported by Liga.Business citing LIGA.net, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The management of Fire Point has explained the reasons for rescheduling the launch of its production facilities in Denmark. As company CEO Iryna Terekh noted, the previously acquired building did not meet the stringent safety standards required for handling rocket fuel, necessitating additional construction work.
Specifically, experts found that the walls of the selected facility were not robust enough for high-risk manufacturing. During the building’s renovation, engineers had to account for the specific requirements mandated for defense industry facilities in Europe.
In addition to technical safety concerns, the project encountered environmental hurdles. A rare species of worm protected under local legislation was discovered on the site. Due to the need to comply with environmental regulations, construction was temporarily halted to conduct further assessments and coordinate with Danish state authorities.
The company is currently working to resolve all identified issues. It is expected that once the facility is fully adapted to current European safety standards, the site will enable Fire Point to expand its manufacturing capabilities to meet defense requirements.
